Our Collection of meteorite enriched
The collection of meteorites in our meseum just enriched by a precius gift from our friend Pr.Christopher P.MacKay of the Research Center of NASA in the USA (Ames
Research Center, Moffett Field.) Who honored our museum a visit to the head of a group of eighteen U.S. researchers on the topic of research Scientific Mars from meteorites identified around the world including our famous diogénite known Tataouine 1931, our association has had the honor to showcase both among the local population in scientific community.
A visit to the place of the meteorite crater was organized group under the leadership of our friend Habib Aljane curator of our museum.
Further scientific research such visits study does contribute to the promotion of tourism culture that our association has always defended.
The two new tenants in the radius of meteorites our museum are:
• Iron Meteorite Medium Octohedrite discovered in Australia in 1931 near the Finke River Valley.
• Nickel-Iron Metiorite Coarsest Octahedrite (IIB) discovered in Russia in 1947.
Our new friend Pr.Christopher P. McKay promised us further collaboration further during other visits to our region known for its rich and varied heritage.
